About this Site

Why does this site exist?

While there is a tremendous amount of information about prescription and nonprescription medications on the Internet, much of it is hard to find, difficult to understand, and often inaccurate.

This web site is designed to provide clear, accurate, and understandable information on medication issues pertaining to baby boomers over the age of 50 and their aging parents.

Importantly, rather than coming from some unknown source, the answers to questions on this web site come from a trusted and credible source – me! I’m Dr. Si.

I can assure you that this web site reflects my passion and commitment to promoting appropriate medication use and eliminating medication-related problems in older adults.

About Dr. Si

Dr. William “Si” Simonson, that’s me!, has been a pharmacist for more than 35 years, and for most of my career I have concentrated my efforts on medication use and misuse in older adults – this includes those baby boomers over the age of 50 and their aging parents. We know that older adults take more medications and are subject to a variety of medication-related problems such as drug interactions or side effects but I have found that many baby boomers have questions about their medicines, both prescription and over-the-counter.

I have spent 30+ years as a university professor, have worked in numerous nursing homes and other long-term care environments including assisted living, have written three books and have at least two more that I’m working on. I have also participated in countless committees, task forces, have served as president or chairman of various professional organizations dealing with pharmacy and/or aging and have given more than 800 lectures to health professionals and older consumers.

Importantly, I understand the kinds of problems that people experience when they use (or misuse) medications and I’ll use that knowledge and experience to provide the best possible answers to your questions.
